AUI Contractors of Fort Worth recently received the coveted Contractor of the Year Award from the North Central Texas chapter of the Texas Public Works Association. The firm enjoyed the distinction of being nominated by two cities, Hurst and Arlington.
In his nomination of AUI, Hurst's Director of Public Works and Engineering, Ron Haynes, noted that the City has had a great working relationship with AUI over the past 16 years. "AUI has built 16 projects for the City and we have been very pleased with the results." Haynes pointed out that the projects ranged from civil work and recreational facilities to high-end architectural projects such as Fire Station #2 and the Conference Center currently under construction.
"AUI Contractors approaches every project with the same high level of attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and excellent cost control," said Haynes. "Our job of spending the taxpayers' money wisely is made easier by having a general contractor who helps us make sure that every dollar is well spent."
The City of Arlington and AUI Contractors also have a long history of successful projects. Bob Lowry, Director of Public Works and Transportation, stated that, "AUI is one of the most customer-focused contractors I have ever worked with. They listen to the customer, they provide sound recommendations, and they deliver their projects on time and in budget without sacrificing quality."
Founders Park & Levitt Pavilion, which recently won a 2009 TPWA Project of the Year award, is a testament to AUI's quality of work. "This was a nine month job under the best of conditions, but when we told them we needed it open in six, they accepted the challenge and got it done - and it came in under budget!" said Lowry.
